University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU)

Founded in 1872, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, or BOKU for short, is an institution where approximately 9,000 students are currently enrolled. BOKU is one of the best alternatives globally for those closely interested in nature and ecological agriculture. Ranked 21st in the Green Universities ranking worldwide, BOKU is not only a campus for natural resources and life sciences but also a practical and living space.

 

BOKU continues its education in departments such as sustainable agriculture, viticulture, soil science, horticulture, and livestock, which are still located on the original campus built in Türkenschanzpark in 1896. Another campus of the university is located near the Heiligenstadt metro station. The university’s departments in biotechnology, chemistry, plant sciences, water resource management, and food sciences are situated on this campus. The biotechnology and agricultural sciences laboratories and facilities are located in the Tulln region north of Vienna.
